أَخٌa brother لَكَof yours عاداهُopposed him الزَمانُTime فَأَصبَحَتand so became
أَخٌ لَكَ عاداهُ الزَمانُ فَأَصبَحَت
مُذَمَّمَةًblameworthy فيماin what لَدَيهِhe has العَواقِبُthe outcomes
مُذَمَّمَةً فيما لَدَيهِ العَواقِبُ
A brother of yours whom Time has opposed, so that
A brother you have, betrayed by fate,
the outcomes of his affairs have become blameworthy.
His trials now but latent seeds await,
مَتىwhen ماever (emphatic) تُذَوِّقهُgive him a taste of التَجارِبُtrials صاحِباًa companion
مَتى ما تُذَوِّقهُ التَجارِبُ صاحِباً
مِنَamong الناسِpeople تَردُدهُsend him back إِلَيكَto you التَجارِبُtrials
مِنَ الناسِ تَردُدهُ إِلَيكَ التَجارِبُ
Whenever trials give him a taste of a companion
Each test life gives, each friend that strays,
among people, trials send him back to you.
Brings him back to you, come what may.
