إِنَّindeed اِبنَson of طَوقٍTawq وَبَنيand the sons of تَغلِبٍTaghlib
لَوif قُتِّلواthey were slaughtered أَوor جُرِّحواthey were wounded قَصرَهby force
Indeed, Ibn Tawq and the sons of Taghlib,
The sons of Tawq and the clan of Taghlib,
if they were slaughtered or wounded by force,
If they were killed or wounded out of malice,
لَمnot يَأخُذواthey would receive مِنfrom دِيَةٍblood money دِرهَماًa dirham
يَوماًon any day وَلاnor مِنfrom أَرشِهِمtheir injury compensation بَعرَهa dung pellet
would not receive a single dirham in blood money,
Would take no blood money in dirhams,
ever, nor a dung pellet as compensation for their wounds.
Nor any compensation for their loss.
دِمائُهُمtheir blood لَيسَthere is not لَهاfor it طالِبٌan avenger
مَطلولَةٌshed without redress مِثلَlike دَمِthe blood of العُذرَهthe maidenhead
Their blood has no avenger,
Their blood has no claimant,
shed without redress, like the blood of defloration.
It flows freely like the blood of foxes.
وُجوهُهُمtheir faces بيضٌwhite وَأَحسابُهُمand their family honor
سودٌblack وَفيand in آذانِهِمtheir ears صُفرَهbrass
Their faces are white, but their family honor
Their faces are pale, their lineages black,
is black, and brass is in their ears.
Their ears yellowish from adornment.
