أَصبَحَhas become عَينيmy eye مانِعاًa barrier لِلكَرىto slumber
أَصبَحَ عَيني مانِعاً لِلكَرى
وَأَولَعَand made engrossed الأَحشاءَthe entrails بِالخَفقِwith throbbing
وَأَولَعَ الأَحشاءَ بِالخَفقِ
It has kept my eye from slumber,
My eyes began to prevent weeping
And set my entrails throbbing.
And ignited my innermost being with throbbing
وَأَصبَحَand has become الاِسلامُIslam مُستَعبِراًtearful
وَأَصبَحَ الاِسلامُ مُستَعبِراً
لِثُلمَةٍfor a breach بايِنَةِfar from الرَتقِmending
لِثُلمَةٍ بايِنَةِ الرَتقِ
And Islam has become tearful
And Islam began wandering
For a breach beyond mending.
Due to a gaping tear

May the stranger whose grave lies far away be watered
His grave watered the leaned stranger
In the land of Tus by falling showers of rain.
In the land of Tus torrents of tears
