ياO مَنthe One who إذاwhen رقدَslumbered النوّامُthe sleepers ليلَهمُtheir night
سَهِرتُI stayed awake أَرقبُI await منهfrom Him بهجةَthe joy الأَبَدِeternity
O You, when sleepers slumber through their night,
O You who when others sleep through the night
I stay awake, awaiting from You the joy of eternity.
I stay awake, watching for the joy of eternity
أَنتَYou الذيthe One who شَغَلتhas occupied قلبيmy heart محبَّتُهُlove for Him
فماso there is no لهfor it نظرٌgaze يلويturns علىtoward أَحَدِanyone
You are the One whose love has occupied my heart,
You who filled my heart with Your love
So its gaze turns toward no one else.
So it looks to no other, none beside
ياO ربِّmy Lord أَنتَYou الذيthe One who أَغنيتنيYou made me free of need كرماًout of generosity
عنfrom كلِّevery شيءٍthing بماthrough what أودعتَYou have placed فيin كَبديmy liver
O my Lord, You are the One who has generously made me independent
O Lord, You have enriched me with Your bounty
Of all things, through what You have placed within my liver.
I need nothing but what You have placed in my heart
منwho ذاthis one يراكَsees You فتحدُوهُthen drive him مطالبهhis desires
الىto سِواكَother than You طوالَthroughout الدَّهرِtime والأَبَدِand eternity
Who is there who sees You, then is driven by his desires
Who sees You, and still seeks anything else
To anyone other than You, throughout time and eternity?
Through all time, for ever and evermore
