I complain to you of sorrow, despite the multitude of men,

Born of loneliness, with no one in it to console me.

None among them joins me in rapture,

In talk of Najd, to divert me and sadden me.

They are indeed my kin, and yet,

They are far removed from what my faith requires.

So, in my eyes, you are nearer kin than they

To the life that endures and so preserves me.
