And a master in whom his age took pride,

and the age glories in the master.

The Lord of the Throne gave him, in His bounty—

and the Lord's gifts cannot be counted—

signs of knowledge with which He endowed him.

How beautiful the signs God bestowed!

How many a man dead through ignorance his knowledge sought out,

in the pit of ignorance, and brought him to life!

And many a blind man his excellence treated with kohl,

and cured of doubt's congenital blindness.

And one paralyzed by passions, their prisoner,

he raised him out of them and set him free.

    مُشتقّةٌ منه سَجاياهُ

    So he is the Messiah of knowledge in his time;

his qualities are derived from the Messiah.
