If indeed she-camels carry us toward your land,
Time shall surely set them all free to roam.

And if the Arhab she-camel carries you toward us,
We would make our cushions knolls for her padded feet.
فنقبِضُso we draw back أيديناour hands عليهاupon her كرامةًout of respect
ونَبسطُهاand we spread them بِشراًin gladness بأهلاًwith “welcome” ومرحباand “a warm welcome”
So we hold our hands back from her out of respect,
And spread them joyfully with “Welcome!” and “A warm welcome!”
وقلَّand scant is لهاfor her بسطُthe spreading الأياديof hands كرامةًas an honor
وقدand indeed حملتshe has carried صدراًa chief تُحلّare untied لهfor him الحُبىknee-bands worn while sitting
Yet outstretched hands are scant honor for her,
For she has borne a chief before whom knee-bands are untied.
