لَقَدindeed أَسمَعتَyou made yourself heard لَوif نادَيتَyou called to حَيّاًsomeone alive
لَقَد أَسمَعتَ لَو نادَيتَ حَيّاً
وَلَكِنand yet لاno حَياةَlife لِمَنfor the one whom تُناديyou call
وَلَكِن لا حَياةَ لِمَن تُنادي
You would indeed have made yourself heard, had you called to someone alive;
If you called out, you would hear an echo
But there is no life in the one you call.
