أَغَرناwe raided بِصاراتٍat Ṣārāt وَرَقدٍand Raqd وَطَرَّقَتand led by night
أَغَرنا بِصاراتٍ وَرَقدٍ وَطَرَّقَت
بِناwith us يَومَthe day لاقىmet أَهلُهاits people البوسَwoe عُليَبُʿUlyab
بِنا يَومَ لاقى أَهلُها البوسَ عُليَبُ
We raided at Ṣārāt and Raqd, and were led by night
The cheeks of youth lured us, and slumbering eyes,
by ʿUlyab, the day its people met woe.
And visages, whose sheen at morning we had known.
