أُقَدِّمُI put forward العودَthe staff قُدّاميahead of me فَأَتبَعُهُthen I follow it
أُقَدِّمُ العودَ قُدّامي فَأَتبَعُهُ
وَقَدand indeed أَرانيI recall myself وَلاwhile not يَمشيwalks بِيَwith me العَودُthe staff
وَقَد أَراني وَلا يَمشي بِيَ العَودُ
I set my staff ahead of me, then follow it;
I put the staff ahead of me, then follow it.
yet I remember a time when no staff walked me along.
Yet I remember when the staff did not guide my steps.
