1. The Nile flows in rapture from the white Sahara
And Nile dwellers are ever joyous and blissful

2. And the surging wave responds to the throbbing hearts
With sympathies and passions profound

3. All life is a verdant, radiant spring
On both banks, and time is ever renewed

4. The roots march in its valley, dreaming
Escorted by a procession of aromatic fragrance

5. And to the date palms, there is singing on its banks
With an echo in the expanse of the soul, melodious

6. When the nightingales greet the Nile vociferously
And the night dons its black gown, the silence of night is all ears

7. Until the pure dawn smiles at them
And awakens them with songs and tunes

8. Light descends from its horizons, thrilled
And the meadows receive it, exuberant and elated

9. The Nile surges from the loftiness of its source
Galloping the steeds of nights, hasty and swift

10. Never once bored of the lengthy journey, over the stairs
Eras have been buried, eras upon eras

11. It flows from the hill of a smiling virgin
In every valley it passes, the magic has a palace

12. Where nature is in the prime of youth
With graces and charms aplenty

13. Its scarf, the vivid sunset, its playground
A tender plain, hills and valleys

14. And the light has clothed many a valley that has
None but hermits and neighbors dwelling in it

15. And many a plain the water has settled in
Receiving migrating birds in droves and solitary

16. You see the stars in its blue expanse
When lids close over the flowers by night

17. And on the mountain of Rajjaf there lies hidden
For spectators, a theatre of horrors and terrors

18. When the dreaded mountain shakes violently
The belly of earth heaves, and terror displays its hues

19. So beasts between paralyzed and terrified
And others fleeing confused and perplexed

20. What has provoked Mount Rajjaf so that its insides
Were set ablaze and its boulders shook?

21. Did it erupt upon seeing shackles chaining it
To the ground, so flames ignited within?

22. And the Nile surges like a tune composed
By lutes of feeling and passion sincere

23. Until it sees Khartoum adorned
Stirred by tremors and yearnings intense

24. And the waves echo on both banks a song
Of longing, sighs, and deprivation

25. And the two blues, the azure and indigo sea, blended
Like the white and blue Sahara blend in harmony

26. And it flowed spreading in the desert
While stillness of sands stirs all around

27. Flowing over the expanse unbothered by its desolation
As creation lies under night’s cover, hidden from view

28. And clouds outspread their wings over horizons
While dunes and prairies in the riverbanks sleep

29. And night in the desert’s wilderness is like a cloister
Foreboding, with desert mounds like monks

30. When the cataracts stand guard over its course
Foaming and frothing, it rages wrathfully

31. Spreading terror in the horizons, fuming
As if the waters were erupting volcanoes

32. And turned rocks into specks in its streams
To become overnight dunes on both banks

33. The will of the Nile destroys rocks, its outbursts
So how when a human harms it?

34. And it flowed dreaming in a valley shaded
By palms dangling on the banks, ever lush

35. Unique in its majesty, its patterns are like
Signposts pointing to the Highest Authority
