And the ease of a blissful life was described to me

And return, O the one who allures the infatuated

3. Match the sun with your forehead, forehead to forehead
To see which of us is more radiant

4. And emulate in your charm the charm of jasmine
And bend like a branch when the branch bends

5. I wish your harsh heart would soften
For your charm used to be most tender

6. So turn when they turn
Your tottering form made the branch tremble

7. Indeed, in your cheek lies a garden of passion
Delighting the onlooker and stopping the tempted

8. O gazelle of Karkh, be kind to me
My secret in you almost got violated

9. This blond woman, and the cup is with you
And my passion for your love made me shrink

10. So serve me a cup, and take a cup for yourself
For the sweetness of life is when we share

11. Drink up the cups cheerfully bubbling
Serve me and drink or drink and serve me

12. For your sweetest wine is smoother
Than the blood of generosity and the water of vines

13. The dew in it smiled
As it flowed spreading fragrance

14. It brought out a sun whose radiance brought out stars
Of bubbles, and the full moon orbits it

15. The sky is earth or the earth is sky
When one becomes illuminated like the other

16. In meadows it dressed with a cloak
Wherein jasmine flowers rain from golden trinkets

17. And the doves of good tidings chirped in it
Articulating in their rhythm without missing a note

18. As for the cheeks of the cup when they clapped
They began to shine like a bride with her hands

19. It let them out from its mouth after freeing them
For a time, and they were squeezed out of its two cheeks

20. With lightning in its folds it gathered them
In carnelian treasure, meaning its two lips

21. It uncovered the veil of darkness and so they appeared
And the horizon was illuminated with a clear dawn

22. When you served us a drink you made us gain
Lightheartedness and heaviness of tongue

23. O you whose blame is justified, restrain your blame
With innocent passion, clearly justified

24. And bestow, O people of Nejd, your connection
Yearningly complaining of separation

25. And remember me as I remember you
For some memories brought us near to crying

26. Loyalty, O Arabs, O people of loyalty
Do not betray the pact of one who did not betray

27. Do not say you barred and abandoned me
For my soul is with you and my body is with me
