1. He passed the moat on horse in eager pace
And all the troop at Maserrah joined apace

2. His friends escorted him to Diyumid's tent
And lodged the steeds at station permanent

3. They tethered them in love's sweet pasture there
By pegs and ropes arranged with studious care

4. Then Athees with the sail's extremest spread
Embarked to free Dulul, the noble stead

5. A vow he registered, and therewith both
Plunged in the sea pursuing headlong troth

6. The legs and thighs with brine he bathed awhile
The neck perspiring as he rode the mile

7. Till when the sea had soaked him to the bone
He made attempt to doff the polished zone

8. Renewing then the lave with fair perfume
His body now rehydrates to assume

9. The oil just poured as nourishment applied
At length he turned to wine and drank beside

10. The bowl from which he poured libations fine
