1. I had fallen short of love,
And repented of worries and sorrows.

A tender heart, empty inside.

3. Until a slender gazelle appeared before me,
And I almost spent my whole life yearning.

4. Lovers have their minds stolen,
So mine was confused.

5. Who could control his mind in my hands?
A flimsy heart, faithless and cold.

6. I said when I could find no solution:
“I praise God, who instructed you.

7. The neighbor has rights,
Upon you and the companion by your side.

8. Ahmad, O my wish and desire,
Be content with me, I am content with you.

9. If love of the passionate is a fault,
Then there is no fault in loving you.

10. O father of the path that has
No master, joyful is that road.

11. I am pleased, even if you are not just in love,
That you read, my master, my poems.”
