للَهto God (expressing admiration) منزلa house قصفٍof revelry قدindeed سماrose high شرفاًin honor
للَه منزل قصفٍ قد سما شرفاً
حتىuntil أراناit showed us نجومstars الزهرthe flowers فيamong الزهرthe flowers
حتى أرانا نجوم الزهر في الزهر
What a splendid house of revelry, so exalted in honor!
God has a palace with lofty chambers
Till it showed us flower-stars among the flowers.
That has raised it to the stars in elevation
أهدىit bestowed لناon us نسماتbreezes الشرقof the east خالصةًpure
أهدى لنا نسمات الشرق خالصةً
ممزوجةmingled منfrom شذاthe fragrance of لبنانLebanon بالعطرِwith perfume
ممزوجة من شذا لبنان بالعطرِ
It bestowed on us the pure breezes of the east,
He has gifted us with the pure breezes of the East
Mingled with perfume from Lebanon's fragrance.
Blended with the fragrance of Lebanon and perfume
يبديit reveals لعينيكto your two eyes ماwhat يحويcontains الشمالthe north وماand what
يبدي لعينيك ما يحوي الشمال وما
يحويcontains الجنوبthe south منof الأعلامthe mountains والأثرand relics
يحوي الجنوب من الأعلام والأثر
It reveals to your eyes what the north contains, and what
It shows your eyes what the North contains
The south holds of mountains and relics.
And what the South holds of flags and traces
زرهvisit it تعدyou will become ذاpossessed of انشراحgladness فوقupon ذروتهits summit
زره تعد ذا انشراح فوق ذروته
مروّحrefreshed القلبthe heart والعرنينand the nose والبصرand the sight
مروّح القلب والعرنين والبصر
Visit it, and you will be glad upon its summit,
Visit it and you will find wide cheerfulness at its peak
With heart, nose, and sight refreshed.
Refreshing the heart, the iris, and sight
يريكit shows you طلعةthe appearance of بيتBayt (house) الدينal-Din (the faith) ساميةًlofty
يريك طلعة بيت الدين ساميةً
تنزهit frees القلبthe heart عنfrom همcare وعنand from كدرِdistress
تنزه القلب عن هم وعن كدرِ
It shows you the lofty face of Bayt al-Din,
It shows you the noble appearance of the House of Faith
Freeing the heart from care and distress.
Cleansing the heart of anxiety and gloom
كأنهاas though it were فلكa celestial sphere فيupon الأرضthe earth منتصبٌstanding upright
كأنها فلك في الأرض منتصبٌ
هذيthis is الثرياthe Pleiades وهذاand this is كوكبthe star of السحرthe predawn hour
هذي الثريا وهذا كوكب السحر
As though it were a celestial sphere standing upon the earth:
As if it is a sphere established on earth
These are the Pleiades, and this is the star of dawn.
This, the Pleiades, and that, the planet of sorcery
وكمand how often ارتناit showed us تماثيلimages السرورof joy بهِin it
وكم ارتنا تماثيل السرور بهِ
منfrom جانبthe side of الغربthe west مرآةa mirror منof البحرthe sea
من جانب الغرب مرآة من البحر
And how often we have been shown images of joy there,
How often we have seen the statues of joy in it
From the western side, by a mirror of the sea.
From the side of the West, a mirror from the sea
يشفيit heals الفوادthe heart ويجلوand brightens العينthe eye فيهwithin it شذاthe fragrance of
يشفي الفواد ويجلو العين فيه شذا
واديWadi (valley) الجنانal-Jinan (the gardens) ورؤياand the sight of دارةDarat (abode) القمرal-Qamar (the moon)
وادي الجنان ورؤيا دارة القمر
The heart is healed and the eye brightened there by the fragrance
Its aroma heals the heart and clears the eye within
Of Wadi al-Jinan, and by the sight of Darat al-Qamar.
The valley of heavens and the vision of the orbit of the moon
وقدand indeed جرتflowed فيهwithin it أمواهwaters الصفاof purity فروتand quenched thirst
وقد جرت فيه أمواه الصفا فروت
منfrom كوثرa Kawthar (river of abundance) غدقcopious ينبثscattering كالدررlike pearls
من كوثر غدق ينبث كالدرر
And waters of purity have flowed within it, quenching thirst,
And pure waters have flowed in it
From a copious Kawthar, scattering like pearls.
Gushing from an abundant spring like pearls
كأنهاas though they were جودthe bounty of مولاهاtheir lord البشيرBashir فلاso may ... never
كأنها جود مولاها البشير فلا
زالتcease مراتبهhis ranks بالعزin glory والظفرand triumph
زالت مراتبه بالعز والظفر
As though they were the bounty of their lord, Bashir—so may
As if it is the generosity of its Herald Master
His ranks endure forever in glory and triumph!
His steps remain with glory and victory
