وذكرتماني عهد ذات التدللِ
O two gazelles of Dar al-Safa, you have stirred passion,
O my two gazelles, you deserted the abode of joy,
And reminded me of the days of the coquettish one.
And reminded me of the time of tender affection,
بعيشكماby the lives of you both حفظاًsafeguard علىover الحبlove أنهُfor it is the case that
بعيشكما حفظاً على الحب أنهُ
سياتيكماwill come to you both هذاthis الزمانage بعذلِwith reproach
سياتيكما هذا الزمان بعذلِ
By your lives, safeguard love, for
Swear by your life to keep love safe,
This age will bring you both reproach.
For time will come to you with separation.
إذاif شيتماyou two wish انto ترحمانيyou two have mercy on me وتسعفاand you two give aid
