And congratulate me on the pearls I bring to light.

And congratulate me on what I have attained of pearls

يا قلب يهنيك امنا صرت في ظفر

جاء الحبيب الذي أهواه من سفر

جاء الحبيب الذي أهواه من سفر

O heart, may safety bring you joy; you have attained victory.

O heart, rejoice for you have succeeded

The beloved whom I love has returned from a journey.

The beloved has come from his journey

والشمس قد اثرت في وجهه اثرا

والشمس قد اثرت في وجهه اثرا

And the sun has left a mark upon his face.

And the sun has left its trace on his face

بدرٌ تطوق بالجوزاء عن صغر

بدرٌ تطوق بالجوزاء عن صغر

ومن محياه نور جلّ عن نظر

ومن محياه نور جلّ عن نظر

A full moon, wearing Orion as a necklace since childhood.

And from his cheek a light too bright to behold

And from his countenance shines a light too sublime to behold.

And since his face was touched by the sun

ومذ غدا وجهه بالشمس ذا أثر

ومذ غدا وجهه بالشمس ذا أثر

عجبت من أثر للشمس في قمر

عجبت من أثر للشمس في قمر

And when his face came to bear a mark from the sun,

I marveled at the sun's trace on a moon

I marveled at the sun's mark upon a moon.

Yet the sun should not overtake a moon

والشمس لا ينبغي أن تدرك القمرا

والشمس لا ينبغي أن تدرك القمرا

And the sun ought not to overtake the moon.
