بديع فضله سامي الأرائك

Mercies be yours, O grave where he rests,

You have mercy, O Lahd, who was laid to rest

Wondrous in his virtue, exalted upon thrones.

With excellent virtue, sublime thrones

ويا لهفي على من فيك أمسى

ويا لهفي على من فيك أمسى

ويا أسفي لدرٍّ في ثرائك

ويا أسفي لدرٍّ في ثرائك

And oh, my grief for him who came to lie within you;

And my yearning for those who in you are laid to evening rest

And oh, my sorrow for a pearl in your soil.

And my regret for a pearl within your burial

حويت الكوكب البحريّ علماً

حويت الكوكب البحريّ علماً

فيا عجبي لبحرٍ في خبائك

فيا عجبي لبحرٍ في خبائك

You have held the star, a sea of learning;

You contained the celestial scholar

So how I marvel at a sea within your tent!

So my wonder for a sea within your chambers

ولما إن ثوى نودي إليه

ولما إن ثوى نودي إليه

هلمّ إلى سرورٍ في علائك

هلمّ إلى سرورٍ في علائك

And when he came to rest, a call rang out to him:

And when he was laid to rest, it was proclaimed unto him

“Come to joy in your exaltation.”

Come to a joy within your heights

وفي الملكوت أرّخ ناط فوزاً

وفي الملكوت أرّخ ناط فوزاً

بميخائيل تبتهج الملائك

بميخائيل تبتهج الملائك

And in the heavenly kingdom, mark the date: he bestowed triumph

And in Heaven displayed a thread of victory

Upon Michael; the angels rejoice.
