فحظيتso I gained منfrom تلكthose الأكابرthe grandees بالغناwith wealth
فحظيت من تلك الأكابر بالغنا
وحظيتand I gained منfrom تلكthose الأسابرthe hawks بالحجلwith partridges
وحظيت من تلك الأسابر بالحجل
So from those grandees I gained wealth,
From those great men I got songs,
And from those hawks I gained partridges.
From those wise men only disdain.
