1. سألت بديع النظم لما تمثلت

    لدى كل حبر من معانيه خرّدُ

    I asked the master of wondrous verse, when there appeared

    Before every scholar, maiden beauties from his meanings:

  2. اتحمد في هذا الزمان مؤدباً

    فقال نعم فاليزبكاوي أحمدُ

    “Do you praise a tutor in this age?”

    So he said, “Yes, for al-Yazbakawi is Ahmad—most praiseworthy.”
