ديارٌ تباهت بالكحيل عيونها

ونالت لديه حين جددها المنى

ونالت لديه حين جددها المنى

A mansion whose eyes gloried in al-Kuḥayl;

The dwellings’ eyes took pride in al-Kahil;

at his hands, when he restored it, it attained its every wish.

And in his care, when he restored them, they attained their wishes.

لقد أشرقت حسناً وصح بناؤُها

لقد أشرقت حسناً وصح بناؤُها

فارختها بيت المسرات والهنا

فارختها بيت المسرات والهنا

It truly shone forth in beauty, its structure firm and sound;

Indeed, they shone with beauty, and their structure became sound;

so I set its chronogram: “Daughter of joys and bliss.”

So I dated them: “The house of joys and bliss.”
