أفدي الذي بلحاظه وجبينه
فتنbewitched الظباthe gazelles والبدرand the full moon عندat تمامهits fullness
فتن الظبا والبدر عند تمامه
I would give my life for him who, with his glances and brow,
bewitched the gazelles and the moon at its fullest.
سبحانGlory be to منthe One who جعلplaced المحاسنthe beauties كلهاall of them
سبحان من جعل المحاسن كلها
فيهin him وعذبنيand tormented me بلينwith the suppleness of قوامهhis figure
فيه وعذبني بلين قوامه
Glory be to Him who placed all beauty
in him, and tormented me with his supple form.
فيon خدهhis cheek مثلthe likeness of اسمهhis name والخصرand the waist مثلlike
في خده مثل اسمه والخصر مثل
حديثهhis speech والقدand the stature مثلlike مقامهhis station
حديثه والقد مثل مقامه
On his cheek is the likeness of his name; his waist is like
his speech, and his stature is like his station.
