ألاbehold فاسجدواso prostrate yourselves فيin مسجدٍa mosque ضاءَshone نورهُits light
ألا فاسجدوا في مسجدٍ ضاءَ نورهُ
واهدىand guided وجوهthe faces of الراكعينthose who bow ضياthe radiance of الهدىguidance
واهدى وجوه الراكعين ضيا الهدى
Behold, prostrate yourselves in a mosque whose light has shone,
Behold, bow down in a mosque glowing with light,
And the radiance of guidance has guided the faces of those who bow.
Guiding the faces of kneeling worshippers with the glow of guidance.
مقامٌa sanctuary لدينfor the faith of اللَهGod أضحىhas become منوّراًilluminated
مقامٌ لدين اللَه أضحى منوّراً
بآياتهwith His verses الحسنىthe fairest واطلعand made rise فرقداa northern star
بآياته الحسنى واطلع فرقدا
A sanctuary for God's faith, it has become illuminated
A place for the religion of God has become illuminated,
With His fairest verses, and has made a northern star rise.
With its beautiful verses, the morning star has risen.
تناهُunclear as written; likely 'he built it' البشيرBashir الجنبلاطيّal-Jumblati يرتجيseeking
تناهُ البشير الجنبلاطيّ يرتجي
منfrom اللَهGod عفواًpardon والثوابand the reward المشيّداlofty
من اللَه عفواً والثواب المشيّدا
Bashir al-Jumblati [apparently built it], seeking
Al-Jumblatt sought it, hoping
From God pardon and the lofty reward.
For God's forgiveness and great reward.
تلوحgleam بمحرابin the prayer niche of التقىpiety منهfrom it أرّخواrecord the date
تلوح بمحراب التقى منه أرّخوا
وقارٌdignity وأمنٌand safety فادخلواso enter البابthe gate سُجَّداprostrating yourselves
وقارٌ وأمنٌ فادخلوا الباب سُجَّدا
In its prayer niche of piety gleam—record the date—
From its niche of piety it beckons,
Dignity and safety; so enter the gate, prostrating yourselves.
Where dignity and security originate. Enter the gate bowing down.
