On a lordship that would neither accept nor answer anyone but you.

غراء أنت أميرها ونصيرها

غراء أنت أميرها ونصيرها

وجمالها عن طرف غيرك محتجب

وجمالها عن طرف غيرك محتجب

Resplendent—you are its emir and its champion,

And its beauty is veiled from every gaze but yours.

علويةٌ قرشيةٌ عرّبيةٌ

علويةٌ قرشيةٌ عرّبيةٌ

كل الفخار إلى علاها ينتسب

كل الفخار إلى علاها ينتسب

Alid, Qurashi, Arab,

All glory traces its lineage to its exalted rank.

أعني إمارة مكةٍ ولطالما

أعني إمارة مكةٍ ولطالما

كانت تحن إلى لقاك وترتقب

كانت تحن إلى لقاك وترتقب

I mean the emirate of Mecca, which for so long

Has yearned to meet you and waited expectantly.

والآن قد جاءت تؤرخ بأنها

And now it has come to record the date, declaring:

“Congratulations, Mecca! Abd al-Muttalib has become ruler.”
