بفاقعة غدا يحلو

And a day of exchange

The day of reckoning draws near

grew sweet with a resounding blast.

Tomorrow dawns in splendor

فسل الشهب أظفاراً

بها الأرواح قد سلوا

بها الأرواح قد سلوا

Then ask the pale-taloned ones:

Ask the stars to sheathe their claws

with those talons they have drawn out souls.

With which souls they have seized

سل الحجلات ما لاقت

فإن عديدها محلُ

فإن عديدها محلُ

Ask the partridges what they suffered,

Question the nights for what they witnessed

for their numbers are depleted.

For their count is uncertain
