نحوي بعين الحاسد المرتابِ
I marvel at my fate—how it has come to gaze
How strange is my life, for it has become
Toward me with the eye of a suspicious envier!
The object of the envious and doubtful eye
إنwhether كنتI am فيin الأوطانthe native lands أوor فيin غيرهاother than them
إن كنت في الأوطان أو في غيرها
يعدوit assails عليّagainst me بفرقةwith separation from الأحبابِthe loved ones
يعدو عليّ بفرقة الأحبابِ
Whether I am in my native lands or elsewhere,
Whether I am in my homeland or elsewhere
It assails me by parting me from loved ones.
It attacks me by separating me from loved ones
