سر بي إلى الشقراء من جلق

واثن إلى الخضراء منك العنان

واثن إلى الخضراء منك العنان

Take me to al-Shaqra of Jilliq,

Take me to the blonde one from Julaj,

And turn your reins toward al-Khadra.

And turn your reins to the green one from you.

فيها جنان لو رأى حسنها

فيها جنان لو رأى حسنها

أبو نواس للها عن جنان

أبو نواس للها عن جنان

There are gardens there; had he seen their beauty,

In her are gardens, if Abu Nuwas saw her beauty,

Abu Nuwas would have forgotten Jinan.

He would leave his gardens for her.

وانزل بواديها الذي تربه

وانزل بواديها الذي تربه

مسك وحصبا النهر منه جمان

مسك وحصبا النهر منه جمان

And alight in its valley, whose soil

And descend into her valley, whose soil

Is musk, and whose river’s pebbles are pearls.

Is musk and ambergris, the river flows with pearls.
