من خصلة فرط فيها الولاة
My thoughts never cease to marvel

وقدand indeed أتانيreached me خبرnews ساءنيdistressed me
وقد أتاني خبر ساءني
مقالهاher words فيin السرsecret واسوئتاهoh, the shame!
مقالها في السر واسوئتاه
And news has reached me that distressed me:
Her words in secret: “Oh, the shame!”
