  1. بعدت فواشوقاه عن أبيض الثنا

    وغبت فوالهفاه عن أخضر القنا

    I have grown distant—oh, my longing!—from him of spotless renown.

    And I am absent—oh, my anguish!—from him of green spears.

  2. أشع مدحه العالي وذرني والعدى

    وبح باسمه الغالي ودعني من الكنا

    Spread his lofty praise, and leave me with the foes.

    And speak his precious name openly, and spare me the bynames.
