He said, “My heart’s desire invited me to unpleasant wine

My fate called me to an abhorrent departure

And to sip his lips after intoxication.”

And his lips curved into a smile after being drunk

فقلت له دعوت فتى يرجى

فقلت له دعوت فتى يرجى

ليوم كريهة وسداد ثغر

ليوم كريهة وسداد ثغر

So I said to him, “You have summoned a youth to be relied upon

So I said to him, "You invited a young man who hopes

For a day of battle and the closing of a breach.”

For a day of adversity and sealed lips."
