  1. باكرت راووقي وبطتي التي

    قد قهقهت ودم المدامة يسفك

    I went early to my wine strainer and my flask, which

    had laughed aloud while the wine’s blood was being shed.

  2. وأضعت مالي فيها حتى غدا

    هذا يصغي لي وهذا يضحك

    And I squandered my money on it, until it came to this:

    this one listened to me, and that one laughed.
