May the clouds’ downpour water al-Jank, for our longing
The Genie drank from the lute’s fountain, so we yearned
For the lovely haunts of its land knows no bounds.
For the sweet melodies of his land, boundless

And may it greet the rivers in the region of al-Sham,
And he saluted the rivers of Damascus with his rain, those
Over whose honey-sweet waters tears drip from my eye.
For whose honey my eyelids shed a tear

And may the sky lavish rain upon a land whose sky
The rain clouds watered a land whose sky
Is the boughs of flowering gardens, its horizons blossoms.
Is branches of gardens of flowers, horizons of blossoms

For many a musk-scented breeze has come to me from it,
So many a perfumed breeze came to me from there
And its fragrance is perfume for those drawing near it.
And made it known to the sailboats by its fragrance
