زُبالَةُ لا لِشَرٍّ أَنتَ مِمَّن

زُبالَةُ لا لِشَرٍّ أَنتَ مِمَّن

يُرجيهِ الصَديقُ وَلا لخَيرِ

يُرجيهِ الصَديقُ وَلا لخَيرِ

Zubālah, for ill you are not among those

You are worthless, not for evil

In whom a friend places hope, nor for good.

Are you whom a friend hopes, nor for good

لَقد صَدَقَ الَّذي قَد قالَ قِدماً

لَقد صَدَقَ الَّذي قَد قالَ قِدماً

فَغُضَّ الطَرفَ إِنَّكَ مِن نُمَيرِ

فَغُضَّ الطَرفَ إِنَّكَ مِن نُمَيرِ

Indeed, he spoke truly who said long ago:

Indeed he spoke truth, he who said of old

So lower your gaze, for you are of Numayr.

So turn away your eyes, for you are from Numayr
