حاشا اهتمامك من إسداء مكرمة

وأن يرى لك بين الناس إكرام

وأن يرى لك بين الناس إكرام

Your concern is far removed from bestowing a kindness,

It is unthinkable that your care comes from conferring a kindness,

And from any generosity of yours being seen among people.

Or that people would honor you amongst them.

دع مقصراً ليس بدَّاعاً ولا عجبٌ

دع مقصراً ليس بدَّاعاً ولا عجبٌ

للأريحية والإحسان أقوام

للأريحية والإحسان أقوام

Leave one who falls short—he is no innovator, and no wonder;

Leave a lazy man with no claim to wonder -

There are men for magnanimity and benevolence.

Some people are suited to comfort and benevolence.
