لَبِسَdonned الزِبالَةَthe trash فَروَةًa fur coat
لَبِسَ الزِبالَةَ فَروَةً
وَمَشىand walked الهَوَيناleisurely مَشيَthe gait of قَحبَهa whore
وَمَشى الهَوَينا مَشيَ قَحبَه
The trash donned a fur coat,
He wore trash as a cloak
and walked leisurely, with a whore’s gait.
And walked the alleys with the gait of a whore
أَشجاعُO Shujāʿ حُقَّit is fitting لَناfor us بِأَنto
أَشجاعُ حُقَّ لَنا بِأَن
نَهجوsatirize الزَمانَthe age وَأَنَّand to نسبَهcurse it
نَهجو الزَمانَ وَأَنَّ نسبَه
O Shujāʿ, we have the right to

آسَتِ أُمُّ دَهرٍ اَنتَ في

هِ بفروَةٍ وَأَنا بِجُبَّه
