Who has become abased in prison;
Who in prison has become humiliated
حَليفَa companion of وَجدٍpassionate longing يُعانيhe suffers
حَليفَ وَجدٍ يُعاني
أَسراًcaptivity وَقَيداًand a fetter ثَقيلاheavy
أَسراً وَقَيداً ثَقيلا
A companion of longing, he suffers
A loyal friend who suffers
Captivity and a heavy fetter.
Chains and heavy shackles
مُبلىafflicted بِبَينby separation from حَبيبٍa beloved
مُبلى بِبَين حَبيبٍ
لَوif only يَلقَhe could find عَنهُin his place بَديلاa replacement
لَو يَلقَ عَنهُ بَديلا
Afflicted by separation from a beloved—
Wasting away, longing for a beloved
If only he could find another in his place!
If only he could find a substitute
ياO خُوَّتيmy brothers اليَومَtoday حَقّاًtruly
يا خُوَّتي اليَومَ حَقّاً
