Will you let me complain to you of my ardent longing,
while sorrow's fire has been kindled between my ribs?

سَقىmay ... water اللَهُGod جيراناًneighbors عَلىat الخَيفِal-Khayf طالَماhow often
سَقَيتُI watered الثَرىthe earth مِنfrom بَعدِهِمafter them بِدُموعيwith my tears
May God bless neighbors at al-Khayf with rain; how often
I have watered the earth with my tears since they departed!
تَناأَواthey went far away فَآلىso it swore القَلبُthe heart بَعدَafter فِراقِهِمseparation from them

They went far away, so my heart, after parting from them, swore
an oath never to meet my ribs.
