Beware Ibn Shamʿun’s medicine, for the ailments have sworn
Beware the medicine of Ibn Sham’un, for he has sworn
Never to leave a body he has visited.
That it shall not leave a body visited by illness.

He never felt a young man’s pulse without reciting to him:
It stilled the pulse of no man but recited him verses,
“Bid farewell to Hurayra; the caravan is departing.”
Bid farewell to Hareerah, for Al-Rakalb departs.
