أهدىhe offered إلىto خيرthe best of الأنامhumankind تحيةًa greeting
أهدى إلى خير الأنام تحيةً
مُهدٍa giver هداهguided him إلىto السلامpeace هُداهhis guidance
مُهدٍ هداه إلى السلام هُداه
He offered a greeting to the best of humankind—
I offer greetings to the best of mankind
A giver whom his guidance led to peace.
One who was guided to peace, his guidance led him
يبغيhe seeks الرضاapproval بوسيلةthrough a means مقبولةaccepted
يبغي الرضا بوسيلة مقبولة
بُشراهglad tidings to him قدindeed ظفرَتْhave won بذاكwith that يداهhis two hands
بُشراه قد ظفرَتْ بذاك يداه
He seeks approval through an accepted means.
He seeks satisfaction through acceptable means
Glad tidings to him: his two hands have won that!
His good tidings have succeeded through his hands
فاللهfor God قدindeed وعدpromised النبيَّthe Prophet بأنهthat He
فالله قد وعد النبيَّ بأنه
يجزىrewards بعشرٍtenfold كلَّevery one منwho حياهgreeted him
يجزى بعشرٍ كلَّ من حياه
For God has promised the Prophet that He
For God has promised the Prophet that
Rewards tenfold everyone who greets him.
He will reward tenfold all who greet him
أكرمْhow noble بهit is عملاًas a deed أبانmade clear سبيلهits path
أكرمْ به عملاً أبان سبيله
يُحييrevives أمينthe trusted bearer of الشرعsacred law بلnay أحياهhe brought him to life
يُحيي أمين الشرع بل أحياه
How noble a deed! He made its path clear,
Honor him with good deeds, make clear his way
Reviving the trusted bearer of sacred law—nay, he brought him to life.
He brings life to the trustee of sacred law, indeed gave him life
فجزاهso may He reward him ربthe Lord of العرشthe Throne خيرَthe best of جزائهhis recompense
فجزاه رب العرش خيرَ جزائه
بسلامهwith His salutation الزاكيpure لناريّاهapparently: its fragrance is ours (two joined words)
بسلامه الزاكي لناريّاه
So may the Lord of the Throne grant him the finest recompense,
So may the Lord of the Throne reward him the best of rewards
With His pure salutation, whose fragrance is ours [final phrase uncertain].
With his purified peace for his fiery one
