يَقِلّcounts for little مِنَof النّاسِpeople عِندِيto me الكَثِيرُthe many
يَقِلّ مِنَ النّاسِ عِندِي الكَثِيرُ
وَيَكثُرُand counts for much عِندِيَto me مِنكَof you القَلِيلُthe little
وَيَكثُرُ عِندِيَ مِنكَ القَلِيلُ
To me, a multitude of people counts for little,
and a little of you counts for much.
وإنand if لَمnot يُتَحbe granted لِيto me سِوَىexcept وَاحِدٍone
وإن لَم يُتَح لِي سِوَى وَاحِدٍ
خَلِيلٍclose friend فَإنَّكَthen indeed you are ذَاكَthat الخَلِيلُthe close friend
خَلِيلٍ فَإنَّكَ ذَاكَ الخَلِيلُ
And if I am granted only one
close friend, then you are that friend.
