لماwhen تمكَّنbecame firmly established دنياهمtheir worldly fortunes أطاعَهَمُhe obeyed them
لما تمكَّن دنياهم أطاعَهَمُ
فيin أيّwhichever نحوٍdirection يميلواthey bend دينهhis faith يملِit bends
في أيّ نحوٍ يميلوا دينه يملِ
When their worldly fortunes became secure, he obeyed them;
When their worldly life empowered them
In whichever direction they bend his faith, it bends.
In whatever way they inclined, their religion inclined
