    The hand of our days has wounded us,

    and there is no healer but God.

    ليسوا بأهل لسوى اليأس

    So put no hope in created beings to meet a need;

    they are worthy of nothing but despair.

    And do not multiply your complaints to them, for there is no

    point in your complaint to someone hard-hearted.

    ما مذهب القوم بمنقاس

    And do not measure their actions by reason;

    the way of these people cannot be measured.

    And if you mingle with a company of them,

    you tumble headfirst in matters of faith.

    Some of them devour the flesh of others, and do not

    see any harm in backbiting.

    No religious scruple protects them

    from it, nor shame before their fellow sitters.

    Whoever comes to their door suffers

    every humiliation of a dog, save being told 'Begone!'

    لا خير في الخلطة بالناس

    So flee from people to their Lord;

    there is no good in mingling with people.
