واقنعand be content منfrom الرزقsustenance ببعضwith some of النوالْbounty
واقنع من الرزق ببعض النوالْ
Never take charge of people's affairs;
Time does not soften the affairs of life,
And be content with a little of the sustenance bestowed.
Be content with the little provision you have.
لَوْif لَمْnot يكنwere فِيat الحشرthe Gathering فِيهِin it سِوَىexcept
لَوْ لَمْ يكن فِي الحشر فِيهِ سِوَى
طولlength of وقوفstanding المرءِa person's عندduring السؤالْquestioning
طول وقوف المرءِ عند السؤالْ
If, at the Gathering, it entailed nothing but
If on Judgement Day the only thing that mattered
A person's prolonged standing under questioning,
Was how long one stood being questioned,
لكانthen it would be أمراًa matter مؤلماًpainful محزناًsaddening
لكان أمراً مؤلماً محزناً
يلهيكdistracts you عنfrom أهلfamily وجاهand status ومالْand wealth
يلهيك عن أهل وجاه ومالْ
It would be a painful, saddening matter,
It would be a painful and saddening matter,
Distracting you from family, status, and wealth.
