قَدْ تأملتُ مَا بَعَثْتَ بِهِ لا

قَدْ تأملتُ مَا بَعَثْتَ بِهِ لا

زلتَ تُهْدى لمن يواليكَ بِرّا

زلتَ تُهْدى لمن يواليكَ بِرّا

I have pondered what you sent; may you never

I have contemplated what you have sent

cease to bestow kindness on those devoted to you.

You continue to guide those loyal to you with righteousness

فرأيتُ الجمالَ كُمِّلَ والإِج

فرأيتُ الجمالَ كُمِّلَ والإِج

مَالَ فاستجمعا وسمى شعرَا

مَالَ فاستجمعا وسمى شعرَا

I saw beauty brought to perfection, and

I saw beauty made complete and glory

concision; the two united and were called poetry.

Unite and be called poetry

وتنزهت فِي رياض بديع

وتنزهت فِي رياض بديع

من صنيع البيان أطْلَعْنَ زهرا

من صنيع البيان أطْلَعْنَ زهرا

And I strolled through gardens of wondrous artistry,

And you walked in gardens of eloquence

fashioned by eloquence, which brought forth blossoms.

From the craft of rhetoric blooming flowers

يَا أميراً حَتَّى عَلَى النظم والنث

يَا أميراً حَتَّى عَلَى النظم والنث

ر لقد زدت فِي الإمارة قدرا

ر لقد زدت فِي الإمارة قدرا

O prince, even over verse and

O prince even over verse and prose

prose, you have indeed grown in princely stature.

You have indeed increased in rank and esteem
