I ponder my condition and the nearness of my death,

and my swift progress on my way to the grave.

So my thoughts raise for me clouds of sorrow,

pouring down woes that torrents of rain cannot match.

To God I complain of my existence, for I

have been wearied by it since the beginning of life.

Death's calamities come evening and morning,

embittering it; and death is the end of it all.
