and by a subtle grace of your qualities,

revealed in your movements,

وبنور الحسن إذ يح

ويك من كل جهاتكْ

and by beauty’s light as it envelops

you from every side,

وبسر فَوْقَ مَا يُدْ

رَكُ من حُسْنِ صفاتكْ

رَكُ من حُسْنِ صفاتكْ

and by a secret beyond what can be

grasped of the beauty of your attributes,

لا تُذِقْني الموتَ فِي

لا تُذِقْني الموتَ فِي

صدك عني بحياتكْ

صدك عني بحياتكْ

do not make me taste death through

your turning away from me—by your life!
