دققتَ فِي الفطنة حَتَّى لقد

دققتَ فِي الفطنة حَتَّى لقد

أبْدَيتَ مَا يَسْحَرُ أَوْ يَسْبى

أبْدَيتَ مَا يَسْحَرُ أَوْ يَسْبى

You were so subtle in discernment that indeed

you revealed what enchants or captivates.

وصرتَ فِي أعلى مَقاماتِها

وصرتَ فِي أعلى مَقاماتِها

حَيْثُ يَراكَ الناس كالشهْبِ

حَيْثُ يَراكَ الناس كالشهْبِ

And you attained its highest stations,

where people see you like the shooting stars.

وَسارَ مَا سَيَّرت من جَوْهَر ال

وَسارَ مَا سَيَّرت من جَوْهَر ال

حِكْمَةَ فِي الشَّرق وَفِي الغرْبِ

حِكْمَةَ فِي الشَّرق وَفِي الغرْبِ

And what you sent forth spread abroad—the jewels of

wisdom—in the East and in the West.

ثُمَّ تَنَازَلْتَ إِلَى حَيْثُ لا

ثُمَّ تَنَازَلْتَ إِلَى حَيْثُ لا

يَنْزلُ ذُو فَهْم وَلا لُب

يَنْزلُ ذُو فَهْم وَلا لُب

Then you descended to where no

person of understanding or reason descends.

تُثْبِتُ مَا تَجْحَدُهُ فِطْرَةُ ال

تُثْبِتُ مَا تَجْحَدُهُ فِطْرَةُ ال

عَقْلِ وَلا تَشْعُرُ بِالخَطْبِ

عَقْلِ وَلا تَشْعُرُ بِالخَطْبِ

You affirm what is denied by the innate nature of

reason, yet you do not perceive the calamity.

أنْتَ دَلِيلٌ لي عَلَى أَنَّهُ

أنْتَ دَلِيلٌ لي عَلَى أَنَّهُ

يُحالُ بَيْنَ الْمَرء والقلب

يُحالُ بَيْنَ الْمَرء والقلب

You are proof to me that

a barrier is placed between a man and his heart.
