أأحبابَO beloveds قلبيmy heart والذينَand those who بذكرهمthrough remembering them
أأحبابَ قلبي والذينَ بذكرهم
وتَرْدَادهand repeating it طولَthroughout الزَّمانtime تَعَلقيmy attachment
وتَرْدَاده طولَ الزَّمان تَعَلقي
O beloveds of my heart, and you to whose remembrance
My heart's beloved, whose memory
And its repetition I am devoted for all time:
Stays with me always throughout time
لئنْeven if غابَwas absent عنْfrom عينيmy eye بديعwondrous جمالكمyour beauty
لئنْ غابَ عنْ عيني بديع جمالكم
وجارَand acted unjustly عَلَىagainst الأبدَانthe bodies حُكْمُthe decree التفرُّقِseparation
وجارَ عَلَى الأبدَان حُكْمُ التفرُّقِ
Though your wondrous beauty is absent from my sight,
Though your beauty is hidden from my eyes
And separation’s decree has dealt unjustly with our bodies,
And we're parted by cruel fate's design
فماso … not ضرناharmed us بعدُremoteness المسَافةthe distance بَيْنَنَاbetween us
فما ضرنا بعدُ المسَافة بَيْنَنَا
سَرائرناour innermost thoughts تسريjourney by night إليكمُto you فَنَلْتَقِيand so we meet
سَرائرنا تسري إليكمُ فَنَلْتَقِي
The distance between us has done us no harm:
The distance cannot really harm our bond
Our innermost thoughts journey by night to you, and so we meet.
In spirit we shall reunite and find
