حديثُهُhis speech أوor حَديثٌtalk عنْهُabout him يُطْرِبُنِيdelights me
حديثُهُ أو حَديثٌ عنْهُ يُطْرِبُنِي
هذاthis إذاwhen غابَhe is absent أوor هذاthis إذاwhen حَضَرَاhe is present
هذا إذا غابَ أو هذا إذا حَضَرَا
His speech, or talk about him, delights me.
His words or talk of him delights me
The latter when he is absent, or the former when he is present.
Whether he is absent or whether he is here
كِلاَهُمَاboth of them حَسَنٌpleasing عنديto me أُسَرُّI am delighted بهby it
كِلاَهُمَا حَسَنٌ عندي أُسَرُّ به
لكنَّbut أحلاهُماthe sweeter of the two ماthat which وافَقَcoincides with النّظراseeing
لكنَّ أحلاهُما ما وافَقَ النّظرا
Both are pleasing to me; I delight in either.
Both are dear when uttered in my ear
But the sweeter of the two is what accompanies seeing him.
But sweeter when I see his face appear
