إنif جزْتَyou pass بحيّby a clan ليof mine علىat الأبْرَقِal-Abraq حيْgreet them
إن جزْتَ بحيّ لي على الأبْرَقِ حيْ
وابلِغْand convey خَبَريmy news فإننيfor indeed I أُحْسَبُam thought to be حيْalive
وابلِغْ خَبَري فإنني أُحْسَبُ حيْ
If you pass by my people at al-Abraq, greet them.
And convey my news, for I am thought to be alive.
قُلْsay ماتَhas died مُعَنّاكُمْthe one you torment غراماًof passion وجَوىًand burning anguish
قُلْ ماتَ مُعَنّاكُمْ غراماً وجَوىً
فيin الحُبّlove وماand did not اعتاضreceive in exchange عنfor الرّوحthe soul بشَيanything in return
في الحُبّ وما اعتاض عن الرّوح بشَي
Say: The one you torment has died of passion and burning anguish
In love, and received nothing in exchange for his soul.
